On August 1st we had the seventh day of the School of Advanced Science on Smart Cities. We started with Marcelo Finger, the title of his presentation was “Basic Techniques in Machine Learning” and he talked about traditional supervised techniques in machine learning and describe their application using real data. He also talked about models for Natural Language Processing such as Word2vec.
After the break, we had the first part of the presentation of Wagner Meira Jr., the title of his presentation was “Data Mining for Social and Cyber Physical Systems”, he discussed data mining paradigms to deal with problems such as alarm triggering, sub-trajectory clustering, and behavior inference from incomplete data.
In the afternoon we have Kiev Gama, “From Urban Data Flows and Civic Hacking to a Smart City Software Ecosystem”, he introduced tendencies on computing involves acquisition, integration, and analysis of big and heterogeneous data generated by a diversity of sources in urban spaces and he discussed some problems of the cities of listeners.
The last session of the day was the second part of the presentation of Wagner Meira Jr. He applied class exercises about Dengue mentions data on Twitter in the year 2013 and buses position in the city of Rio de Janeiro on June 10, 2016, at the 5-minute interval. At night, the participants attended the social event at Pizzeria “Piemonte”.
